Exercises to Reduce or Prevent Varicose Veins

However, when varicose veins have circulatory issues as their root , they may be something to worry about. Consult with your doctor if you develop them; you’ll want to know the cause and the course of treatment for these large, unsightly veins.

Keeping in good shape can treat, even prevent the formation of varicose veins. Regular exercise can also reduce their severity. The best protection against these painful eyesores may be exercise for varicose veins.

Walking good exercise for varicose veins. Walking about half an hour a day (more if you can) is a first step. Because walking will have a positive impact on lower body circulation, it is a good way to combat varicose veins.

Start slowly and ease into your new walking habit; invest a little in a good,comfortable pair of walking shoes. Don’t push yourself too hard, it will cause muscle strain, which will likely make you less motivated to keep up the exercise routine. Remember, walking should be considered a fitness regimen and approached as such.

Besides walking, swimming is also a good choice of exercise for varicose veins. Circulation throughout the entire body, not just the legs can be achieved through regular swims. Also, water aerobics should be considered if swimming laps just isn’t your thing.

After getting in your exercise, or before going to bed, there are some simple things you can do to reduce the severity of varicose veins by ensuring better drainage from the veins. Try lying on the floor with your legs resting on a chair or against the wall. Elevating the legs reduces swelling by allowing gravity to do its part in draining blood from the veins. Failing this, use a recliner to rest with your feet elevated above the hips.
